I'm doing a canvas, my first one. Well it was only a matter of time. Burgeoning artistic talent such as mine simply cannot be restricted to the confines of the greetings cards medium indefinitely.
I used my fingers to splodge on some red, copper and gold acrylic paint and smudged it all around. I rather fancy that, briefly, I knew what it must be like to be Jackson Pollack. Or maybe Rolf Harris...
I've mocked up what I intend to do - as you can see it's a biting critique on the cultural hegemony of female gender roles in post modern, post feminist secular societies.
Oh alright. It's a Christmas plaque for the front door. I cut the letters from thick cardboard and I'll going to UTEE them. I wanted to spell out "Spirit of Christmas", but the paper doll takes up too much room to fit "Christmas" on the bottom line. I've got a few stamps I'll use on tissue paper and then mod podge them on - hopefully it will dry clear and faded. The frame is another Invoke Arts stamp, like the one on the tag from a few days ago. The paper doll is also by Invoke Arts. I'll leave the legs dangling clear of the canvas. I've got some battery operated white LED lights that I hope I can incorporate, maybe by wrapping them round the side of the panel - I should be able to conceal the battery pack in the back.
I realise that all sounds rather garish, but in my head it looks dead good, really!
