I made some Christmas cards for my son to give out at school. Pop up snowmen. Thirty of them. It seemed like a good idea when I was doing the first one. A cute perky snowman to wish each and every child in his class the complements of the season, ho ho ho! By the time I was finishing off the thirtieth one I was borderline psychotic, wanted to grind their smug, whimsical, fat little faces deep into the ground with the heel of my boot...

Anyway, it was all worthwhile cos he gave them out today and his little face was shining. And I could see several parents were seriously impressed.

Any suggestion that I made these cards out of some warped sense of one-upmanship aimed at the other mothers of Year 2 children would be both hurtful and entirely without foundation.

Still. My kid gave out hand made Christmas cards... IN YOUR FACE, other mothers!
